The first ever Traverse City Comedy Arts Festival took place February 19-21, 2010. It featured a diverse bunch of comedians for one of the best weekends this town has seen in some time! About the Traverse City Comedy Arts Festival

In the deepest, darkest part of winter, buried under hundreds of inches of snow, the people of the north country are cut off, isolated, abandoned and hopelessly miserable. The Grand Traverse region of Michigan begins to resemble the Overlook Hotel from “The Shining.” Yes, there are those who sit over a hole in the bay with a rod and a worm, and there are those who ride around on skis tied to a set of mufflers and a V-8 engine. And they are happy. The rest of us, we just go crazy.

Thus, a need has arisen to save ourselves through the miracle of Comedy. There’s nothing like a good laugh to warm the soul. The Traverse City Film Festival is establishing a winter counterpart to its world-renowned summer festival — and it’s called the Traverse City Comedy Arts Festival. For three days in February, the TC Comedy Fest will feature the country’s finest comedians, humorists and satirists. We will offer comedy in all of its forms: stand-up, sketch, improv, one-man and one-woman shows, and, of course, the movies. We will establish the first Comedy Short Film Fest and award a number of prizes.
